November Fly Fishing in Minnesota

Grandpa, Conner, and I fished some local lakes for a few hours today. Today was one of our best days for big fish we’ve had this year. Grandpa landed a few nice sunnies while Conner and I were fishing meat for bass and pike. I tied on a Cotton Candy, and Conner was fishing an X-Bunny (basically a zonker). Conner hooked into a nice bass, and then he saw a pike. He shouted and I fired a cast at the fish… Nothing. Another nice cast… Fish didn’t see it. One more, right on his nose… BOOM! I was shocked with a 16″ northern pike.  He tried to dive into the depths of the pier, but I prevailed. I beached him and got a couple of quick pictures, and I slid him back into the lake.
